How is Christianity wrong?

Everything I say is meant to be as open-minded as possible:

I have a deep history of general New Age spiritualism, so I come from a similar background of most truth seekers.

But the way I see it, what makes Christianity stand out is the facts behind the main man of the faith: Jesus Christ.

He made the bold claim that he was the Son of God Himself in a land where that claim was of the highest blasphemy. But the amazing part is that he proves it: Miraculous conception, fulfils many specific prophesies, performs tons of healings and other miricals, shows pure sinlessness, speaks many truths, and in the end rises from the dead. All this with more documentation than many past wars.

So I want to make sure, do I have my religion right this time?

Thank you for your time and consideration :)

First, it's so much more than RELIGION. It's about a RELATIONSHIP with the ruler and creator of all. I believe in Jesus Christ and that's what I seek after, a RELATIONSHIP, which in turn effects how I live (religion). "Christians" do and have had their problems. Not everybody who calls on His name is truly of Jesus. But you have to look at everything in a perspective that makes sense. The ruler and creator of all (God) is perfect and has no equal, therefore that which He created has turned out to be imperfect. We, (His creation) can not be perfect, if we were, it would give the indication that we are equal to God, which we are not. Everything has glitches and failures, computers malfunction, cars depreciate and TVs blowout. People kill, toddlers can burn things and elderly people can falsely accuse one of a crime. Basically what I'm saying is, NOBODY'S PERFECT! No one should make that claim! That being said, it is possible that the bible is wrong, it's also possible that it isn't. So what if we're right? One's perspective on events during biblical times can differ from another who was there at the same events. So therefore, where is the fact in anything? Only nature knows! My belief in Christ is based on faith, God says that the bible is His word, I believe it. You have to make the choice! Seek for something deeper than a religion. Seek Him who made you and you will find the truth!

But it's REAL! Report It

Your kind killed my Jewish family in the dark ages in England.

Your kind killed my Jewish family in Russia in the 19th century.

Your kind persecutes my family.
The only problem is that all your claims about Jesus are unsubstantiated.
Going from memory are you

great just prove what you say and we will all believe you and wont have to debate out it
God is love...

...yet God destined people for hell.

That is wrong.
There are no miracles, and stories from your bible are just that. As for prophecies:

1. There are several mundane ways in which a prediction of the future can be fulfilled:

1. Retrodiction. The "prophecy" can be written or modified after the events fulfilling it have already occurred.

2. Vagueness. The prophecy can be worded in such a way that people can interpret any outcome as a fulfillment. Nostradomus's prophecies are all of this type. Vagueness works particularly well when people are religiously motivated to believe the prophecies.

3. Inevitability. The prophecy can predict something that is almost sure to happen, such as the collapse of a city. Since nothing lasts forever, the city is sure to fall someday. If it has not, it can be said that according to prophecy, it will.

4. Denial. One can claim that the fulfilling events occurred even if they have not. Or, more commonly, one can forget that the prophecy was ever made.

5. Self-fulfillment. A person can act deliberately to satisfy a known prophecy.

There are no prophecies in the Bible that cannot easily fit into one or more of those categories.

2. In biblical times, prophecies were not simply predictions. They were warnings of what could or would happen if things did not change. They were meant to influence people's behavior. If the people heeded the prophecy, the events would not come to pass; Jonah 3 gives an example. A fulfilled prophecy was a failed prophecy, because it meant people did not heed the warning.

3. The Bible also contains failed prophecies, in the sense that things God said would happen did not (Skeptic's Annotated Bible n.d.). For example:

* Joshua said that God would, without fail, drive out the Jebusites and Canaanites, among others (Josh. 3:9-10). But those tribes were not driven out (Josh. 15:63, 17:12-13).

* Ezekiel said Egypt would be made an uninhabited wasteland for forty years (29:10-14), and Nebuchadrezzar would plunder it (29:19-20). Neither happened.

4. Other religions claim many fulfilled prophecies, too (Prophecy Fulfilled n.d.).

5. Divinity is not shown by miracles. The Bible itself says true prophecies may come elsewhere than from God (Deut. 13:1-3), as may other miracles (Exod. 7:22, Matt. 4:8). Some people say that to focus on proofs is to miss the whole point of faith (John 20:29).
Oh let me count the ways....
The only problem with Christianity is that too often it isnt lived.
Jesus was hardly the first born of god and mortal.
If it feels right for you, go with it. If it doesn't- don't. That's faith for you.
"I have a deep history of general New Age spiritualism, so I come from a similar background of most truth seekers."

You lost me right there. I don't see spiritualism as truth. Far from it. The real truth seekers are the scientists.
"Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven." "

Matthew 16:17
Jesus said " Iam the light of the world as along as Iam in the world" and in another passage He passed to Peter the key to the kingdom then to whom did Peter passed the key? search for it.
ur question: "how is christianity wrong?"

any religion tht changes its book 29312389 times is wrong. any religion tht started out as the word of almighty God and ended up as a book riten by ordinary humans is wrong.

hope tht answered ur question. all the best...
Show us one shred of verifiable evidence that a man named Jesus Christ lived, and did any of the things you claim. Until you can do this, your whole question is nothing more than...

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
Im in Islam. That is my true belief. Im not going to tell you that your religion is wrong. You already know that we have different opinions. Its our right. I also believe that free will is the key and its your right as a person to choose what religion to be in. Its your right to choose what to believe in.

I believe that someone's choice of religion should come from their heart and soul of each person. Not from someone else. Each person has their own path. Their life, their faith is their own responsibility. I respect others as I want to be respected. I respect your choice of religion.

"All this with more documentation than many past wars."

Where, aside from the Bible, is any of this documented? Even Josephus doesn't mention miracles.
Much of what you said I consider right. Jesus did perform miracles, he healed the illnesses by the will of Allah, he fulfilled prophesies by the will of Allah and did everything to prove that he was a prophet of Allah. For us muslims no one, can claim to be God (Allah) himself or his son/wife/daughter no matter how great they are. The "level" of diety is so high no one reaches but Allah/God himself.
Want to point out that documentation please?
Your basing it on a fictional book. There is no more proof that jesus did those things than there is that Hercules existed.
I don't think it matters what religion you are.

That said, Jesus was probably a decent dude. But I've never believed he was god (and I was a Christian for over 20 years, LOL).

Almost every relgion in the world speaks of their holy figures being immaculately conceived. Besides the word "virgin" in those times did not mean virgin as we know it, it simply meant "young girl". Resurrection has also occurred many times in most religions in the world. There is no proof that he actual did any of the things he did either, other that someone's written account.

I think Jesus existed but Christianity is primarily a plagiarized and made up religion. In fact, biblical scholars recently did a study of Jesus' teachings and found that Jesus most likely did not say 80% of what he was claimed to have said.

I'm not saying there's not a god... that remains to be seen (I'm agnostic) but Christianity... to me, is basically a bunch of stories.
Define "prove". I'm a theist, but I still say that just because something is in a book doesn't make it true. If it is the religion for you, cool, but really think about it. Don't follow just because cause some random person that you don't really know says to.
I'll give you an example , yesterday someone asked "Is Ghandi in Heaven" Every single christian said if Ghandi did not ask Jesus to forgive him, he is in hell. I can't think of a better example to give you. Christians believe their faith is right and all others are wrong. To me it doesn't matter, I'm an atheist.
And all of these "prophecies" are MADE and FULLFILLED in the same text! I.e. there is no external corrboration, and it requires the ASSUMPTION of innerancey in the bible to claim it has actually occured.

You don't know what "fact" means do you?
Except that none of that is true. The 'history' that you refer to is a FALSE history of christianity, created by christians... AFTER they had suppressed 'forbidden' (non-biblical' knowledge by the simple expediency of burning it all, and then torturing and killing all of the intellectuals.

What's WRONG with christianity? Well... it's a 1,650 year old criminal business enterprise that survives and prospers via a program of indoctrinating and brainwashing helpless, vulnerable, defenseless children. That, and...

* gullibility

* irrationality

* willful ignorance

* self-delusion

* intellectual dishonesty

* drooling stupidity

* hypocrisy

.
Where is that proof?

There is absolutely NO (none, zip, nada) historical evidence that Jesus EVER existed. Not in any way, shape or form.

Keep searching if it's proof you seek.
Find God, not religion. Religion is a product of man. Spirituality is a product of the spirit. Find wisdom wherever you can, because no one has it right. Up turn every stone you can. Speak to homeless and rich, alcoholic and sober. Murderers in prison and innocent children. Find the truth and seek the wisdom that has been spread all over the earth.
Everything I say is meant to be as open-minded as possible:

Now, I'm not necessarily saying that Christianity is wrong, I just don't agree with it, more particulary - the Bible. I don't believe that just because some ancient authors claim to have 'translated the word of God' means it's true. If I was living in the time before the Bible was written, I (%26amp; a group of people) could have just as easily written a very definitive book about Oompa Loompas, and I bet that is what would be accepted today.

Until God himself can prove himself to me (which, I know, would not be considered faith), I cannot agree with it.

jade :)~
everything that jesus said and did was written about a long time after the socalled events,anyone can say anything in hindsight,there is no historical evidence other than the new testament that tells us about jesus,there is no doubt that someone named jesus was around at that time who was simply a prophet ,nothing more nothing less,to say that because he referred to god as father was normal as it was blasphemy for everyone to say gods name ,i repeat that the so called documentation was written many years later ,which of course has been changed so many times over the last 2000 years that if someone of that time came back they would not recognize it.
It isn't. You've made the right choice.
If it's about Jesus, then I think you have it right.
