Drill Team Question.?

What is "Kims" as referred too in this article?

A drill team is a marching unit that performs military style maneuvers in parades, at air shows, football half-time shows, and other ceremonies. High school and college drill teams also often compete with one another in drill meets. All of the military services have drill teams. As well as executing standard drill commands, drill teams also perform exhibition drill in which they may perform intricate marching maneuvers along with spinning and throwing rifles in the air, sometimes with fixed bayonets. Some basic examples of rifle maneuvers would be the Airplanes, Kims, or the Queen Anne Salute.

Other types of Drill teams include small and large military teams. These teams perform routines that are danced in unity to a variety of instrumental upbeat music. (Search Drill Team at Youtube.com for examples)

Drill Team Question.?opera sheet music

I spent 3 years as a member of the United States Army Drill Team, and while I've heard of Airplanes, suicides, fans, pass throughs, and Queen Anne Salutes, I have never heard of Kims. Generally though, most names are made up and named by a Drill Team as are most manuevers. We actually had maneuvers called the in and out, the over and under, the seven and sevens, and the "guillie" (gil-lee).

It looks as though you got that article off of Wikipedia, and that is user updated and user defined. A Kim is probably some manuever that only the person who wrote the article and members of his/her organization know.
